As a result of some recent sales the walls are looking bare, but as an artist that is great news! However, it also means I need to glue myself in front of my easel and create some new work. I am very excited about my next two paintings and I am looking forward to showing you some works in progress in the coming weeks.
I am proud to have sold three of my original paintings last month, ‘Floating Proud’, ‘First Trip of the Season’ and ‘Nash Harvest’. They have all found great new homes, and I hope they provide many hours of conversation for the families and friends.
This past weekend, we participated in the Garibaldi Art Club, Fall Show. These shows are always enjoyable for Cheri and I as we find ourselves surrounded with great artists and attendees. I was fortunate enough to have sold two more originals, those being ‘Great Blue Heron’ and ‘The Captain’. As an artist it is always nice when you have the opportunity to build a friendship with the collectors of your paintings.
I recently sold a Giclee print of my painting ‘Weeping Willow’ and was interested to hear that the purchaser has a very close and personal connection with the scene. The houseboat on the left of the painting is her childhood home and they apparently used to hold parties in the boathouse on the shore. The red-hulled fishing boat was called the Walter Island and her family once vacationed up to the Queen Charlottes in it. The white-hulled double ender is an old Fisheries Canada Boat that now resides on Pender Island on land as a guest cabin. What a fun idea for an old retired wooden boat! I always have a close and personal connection with every one of my paintings, but when I get to hear the stories from people who have had a first hand connection with an image I have painted, it is really nice.
I would like to invite you to visit my new online store on my website. It showcases available Original Paintings, Artist Signed Giclee Prints and a variety of Greeting Cards.
On Friday, November 30th, White Dog Whistler Studio Gallery will be hosting their “Shades of White” show and I will be in attendance with several of my paintings. I look forward to the opportunity to visit! White Dog Whistler Studio Gallery is at 1074 Millar Creek Rd. Whistler (604) 932 2205. www.whitedogwhistler.com
Below is a picture of me in my studio working hard on my new painting as my critics are hounding me! They are self-proclaimed experts and are always barking out suggestions.
