Well, it seems we blinked and summer is already over! We are blessed to have great friends and family on either side of the Rocky Mountains and are endlessly fascinated not only by the differences in the seasons but the similarities as well. It feels like the last day of sun and summer ended for both of our provinces on the same week! Flooding rain in Vancouver and snow in Calgary! We are not ready to say goodbye to the warmth of the sunshine but we always look forward to the fall colours and the first covering of snow.
Cheri and I had a fantastic Summer of art shows, and truly enjoyed visiting with many of you again this year as well as meeting a ton of new friends and collectors! The Western Showcase at the Calgary Stampede was another great show for us again. Almost everything we painted this year for stampede has now found a home. We find ourselves endlessly fortunate to be able to befriend the people in person that connect with the feeling and sentiment I capture in my paintings. One of the other true pleasures of Stampede is the time spent with fellow artists, so many who I admire and respect deeply.
We also participated in the International Ornithological Congress this summer in Vancouver alongside the Artists For Conservation’s annual show. The AFC is a fantastic organization that we are very excited to be part of. For this particular show, the AFC took on a massive challenge to create a 100 ft mural of 8″x8″ paintings featuring the endangered species of birds around the world. It was an amazing sight to see and I am very honoured to have 3 paintings among the collection.
We are excited about our upcoming show in Bragg Creek. There will be original art, live music & more, created by some of the most talented artists in Western Canada.
